CONFERENCE DETAILS

Why Attend: This conference is critical to our continued pursuit of professional excellence, training and certification. We know that you have to be choosy when it comes to educational/travel expenses and we feel confident the conference agenda and networking opportunities will provide you with multiple reasons to choose our conference!

In addition to great networking, many opportunities to visit with exhibitors and dynamic general sessions, we will be offering multiple breakout sessions each with a CLINICAL, LEGAL/ETHICAL, INNOVATIVE PRACTICE or SELF CARE focus tied to our theme of “ELEVATE: Practice Partnerships Purpose”. The pre-conference intensives (separate fee) on Thursday will likely have an INNOVATIVE PRACTICE (BUSINESS) and/or SELF CARE focus and, though quite valuable, will likely be non-credit sessions for the most part.

We’ve planned some fun and relaxation too! The conference kicks off with a WRC-ALCA “ELEVATE” Welcome Reception and includes the exhibitors, a silent auction, opportunity drawing and much more.

Conference Dates: October 4-6, 2017. Pre-conference intensives will be offered during the day on Wednesday, October 4th (beginning at approximately 8:30 a.m.). The conference will kick off with a welcome reception on the 4th and will conclude at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Friday, the 6th.

Conference Agenda: CLICK HERE for the skeleton At-A-Glance agenda. More detailed versions will be posted as the agenda is fleshed out. A detailed program of events including session and presenter details will be posted in July.

Call for Proposals: Have valuable knowledge and expertise to share OR know someone who does? We’re looking for session content and speaker expertise that raises awareness, assists us in reaching new levels and helps us to strengthen our relationships. We are NOW accepting proposals that will focus on educating our members on new concepts, innovations and discoveries that can advance the practices of Aging Life Care Professionals and enhance the services we offer our clients. For more information, CLICK HEREor go directly to the PROPOSAL FORM The deadline for submissions is May 31, 2017.

Sponsors & Exhibitors: Get involved with the BEST conference for reaching those influencing older adults! Care Managers are health and human services professionals serving the rapidly growing senior population who can afford your services! This year we expect over 125 leaders in the field. Care Managers serve the rapidly growing senior population who can afford your services. In addition to Care Managers, you’ll also reach allied professionals in the aging community along with vendors in other disciplines. This is a unique opportunity to access qualified leads to seniors, family members and to other professional consumers.

Opportunities range from a high of $10,000 for an event sponsorship to a low of $100 for a business card ad. Our fundraising efforts help to keep the registration fees reasonable and allow us to offer the best possible conference package to participants. Those who commit by July 31, 2017 receive a 10% discount. CLICK HERE for additional information and the commitment form.

We encourage members to consider placing a business card in the program. More importantly, we need your help in passing these opportunities – sponsor, exhibitor and advertiser – on to vendors that you use.

Donations: We encourage you to consider making a donation and to pass this opportunity on to others. Opportunity drawings, silent auction and other on-site activities (as scheduled) raise funds to support WRC-ALCA member needs and activities. For information on how to donate an item or to make a cash donation to assist in purchasing items, please contact [email protected].

Continuing Education Hours: WRC-ALCA has APPLIED to offer the multiple CE opportunities. We anticipate the core conference to include approximately 10 credit hours. The pre-conference intensives, though valuable, will likely be non-credit sessions.

A Uniform Certificate of Attendance is included in the conference fee and  may be used for NACCM and general credit. If you need credit for any of the other certifications, the certificates will be $50* each on-site. Assuming approval, credit will be offered as appropriate. Not all classes will necessarily receive credit for each certification category. Approval information will be posted on the WRC-ALCA website a minimum of two weeks prior to the conference and earlier where possible. We encourage you to check back periodically. Applications will be submitted to:

NACCM (National Academy of Certified Care Managers)

• CCMC (Commission for Case Manager Certification) for CCM (Certified Case Manager) certification

• NASW (National Association of Social Workers; includes CA MFT’s and Social Workers)

• Arizona Nurses Association (Nursing CEs are applicable in all western states; see below)

This activity is pending approval from the National Association of Social Workers. This activity will be submitted to the Arizona Nurses Association for approval to award contact hours. The Arizona Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. This program will be submitted to the Commission for Case Managers Certification for approval.

HOTEL DETAILS

Hotel Basics: A newly renovated hotel with gorgeous mountain and city views, full modern amenities and an excellent location adjacent to the University of Utah, MARROITT UNIVERSITY PARK hotel provides smart, stylish lodging for business and leisure travelers alike. Rest easy in brand new, comfortable rooms with luxurious bedding. Take advantage of two on-site restaurants, Pitchers and Allies and a full service Starbucks, a complimentary local shuttle, free parking, indoor pool, and state of the art fitness center. Situated just minutes from downtown, in a quiet area and near hundreds of businesses, this Salt Lake City hotel offers easy access to the Temple Square, Salt Lake Palace Convention Center and seven major ski resorts. In addition, it is just a short walk from TRAX, the downtown above-ground trolley. Contact the friendly hospitality staff for reservations or additional information.

Reservations: We have negotiated an incredible room rate of $165 plus 12.6% tax per night for the group. We recommend ONLINE RESERVATIONS for best accuracy and immediate confirmation. As an alternative, you may also call reservations at (800) 228-9290 and request the “ALCA” group rate. Though the rate will be honored, based on availability, until 5:00 p.m. on September 11, 2017, the group block could potentially sell out at any time. For that reason, we encourage early reservations. Should the block sell out prior to the cut-off date, we will attempt to add more rooms to the block (as available) or will set up an overflow hotel. Cancellations must be made a minimum of 72 hours prior to arrival date to avoid penalties.

By booking in the group block at the Marriott University Park you:

  • Will experience the comfort and convenience of this newly renovated hotel and all it has to offer including amazing views and lovely grounds.
  • May change your reservation at any time if needed. That is not always the case with rooms booked at other hotels online or elsewhere.
  • Will be sure the room you book is the quality contracted. The room/hotel you book online may not be comparable to the rooms in the conference room block. Remember, you get what you pay for!
  • Only have to take a short walk from your room to get to the meeting space. If you are using a discount service, your hotel may not be close to the conference hotel, so you won’t be able to sneak back to your room for a nap, snack, or to check email between sessions.
  • Avoid any transportation costs during the conference. If your hotel is not within reasonable walking distance of the conference hotel, you will incur cab costs which may offset any savings that you received. You also have to build in extra time for this.

As importantly, you support WRCC-ALCA by booking into the block as it assists us in meeting our contractual minimum commitment to the hotel and helps us in keeping the conference fees reasonable for you.

Airport/Ground Transportation: The SALT LAKE CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (SLC) is serviced by the following airlines: Air Canada, Alaska, American, Delta, Frontier, jetBlue, KLM, Southwest and United.

The airport is 15 miles east of the hotel. Transportation options include:

  • Express Shuttle (800-397-0773), $18 each way
  • Bus, $4 each way
  • Taxi, $35 each way (estimated)

Parking: The hotel offers complimentary self-parking.

Internet: Complimentary wireless internet access in all guestrooms and in public areas. We are also providing complimentary WiFi in the meeting space.

Pet Policy: Pets are not allowed.
